Available for immediate sale is a Vintage Grumman 17 foot double ended canoe. These are the classic canoe you grew up with paddling around the lake, or at camp. No leaks, no major dents, just the usual light wear from occasional use. They are of extremely high quality, have been around for many years and good ones are getting harder and harder to find. This auction does NOT include any personal flotation devices, life preservers or paddles.
This model has been gently and lightly used, and has no welds, no repairs or other changes or fabrications from the original manufacturer's design. The canoe has been stored inside a pole barn to protect it from the elements since it was purchased approximately 21 years ago. The excellent Grumman name features a heavy duty, aircraft grade aluminum that was the same material used in the Grumman Wildcat fighter in World War II before Grumman began making canoes. It is a two seat canoe which is rated at 660-pound maximum weight capacity of persons and a maximum total capacity (persons and gear) of 755 pounds. It may be transported atop a vehicle, or truck but it does have a good heft, which is indicative of the excellent quality that goes into manufacturing the Grumman canoe.
It will hold up for many, many more years of family fun and enjoyment. As they say, they just do not make them like this anymore. This is your chance to own a piece of history with this extremely well made canoe. This canoe is located in Ripley, Western New York near the Pennsylvania boarder and is available for pick-up locally only, as this high quality canoe is just too large to ship..
