17' Willits Brothers Canoe built in the early 1930's serial number 413. These are the finest canoes ever built. Built by the two Willits brothers of Tacoma, WA. They built less than 1000 canoes over some 45 years until 1962. This is a fine example with White Cedar ribs, Red Cedar planking, and Mahogany trim.

The canoe was refinished a number of years ago and well stored. Pictures do show some repair to the plank and ribs at the turn of the bilge, completely water tight. Also shown are normal scrapes and dings. You can also notice that all the tack heads are present. This all wood canoe weights about 75 lbs.

I am a life member of the WCHA with a vast collection of canoes and am parting with this one as I have other Willits Brothers canoes. Please contact me with questions. I can deliver within 100 miles of Chicago or Holland Michigan at no cost. I can also help arrange its delivery anywhere in the US; the cost will vary and most likely less than $500, but I had to put something in for shipping cost.

I grew up with a Willets as a kid. My Dad’s canoe went to my brother in his will. My son is celebrating his 50th birthday, and has been passionately looking for a Willets. He lives in Colorado now. Could you tell me what items, paddles, sails etc. are included in the sale?

Good looking Willits. Have you heard we have a Willits gathering August 21 in Gig Harbor Wa. We have 20 Willits coming. Made shirts for the event. I’ve been in contact with Michael Grace about it. Chris Eden is coming going to do a story in the journal sounds like.

Hello, I would like your help with a Willits Canoe. I just found one at a local antique store. It has a brass plaque on the front of the bow cover that reads, Willits Bros. Tacoma ,WA It is beautiful and I am interested in buying it. They just got it in yesterday and they are asking $4500 I have offered $3000 and I'm waiting to hear from the store. Can you tell me how to find the serial number? I can't believe the workmanship. Anything I should be looking for would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. Gary Burdick
