24" Model Sharpe Cedar Canoe

24" Model Sharpe Cedar Canoe This canoe is handcrafted in the traditional manner and is an exact replica of the canoes produced by the Sharpe Canoe Company in Northern New Brunswick.The white cedar ribs are hand cut, steamed and placed on a mold in the same manner that the full size boat is produced. It is covered with cotton canvas and painted in the traditional forest green colour. The paddles are hand carved from mahogany. It is typical of the fishing boats used on the Restigouche and Upsalquitch Rivers for fly fishing Atlantic salmon. Ken Sharpe started fly fishing Atlantic salmon as a youth spending countless hours on the Restigouche and Upsalquitch Rivers in Northern New Brunswick, casting his line.

Ken apprenticed under his father, Wendell Sharpe, and is proud to be carrying on the art and craft of miniature canoe making into the second generation. Each canoe takes approximately 40 hours to produce. They are 24 inches long , 4 3/4" wide and includes desk stand. These canoes have found their way into craft museums in New York City, London, England and into the homes of some of the world's finest fly fishermen.
