Antique 16' Bill Greenwood Wood/wooden-Canvas Canoe

To my knowledge this is a Bill Greenwood Canoe.Measures ~15' so I am assuming the canoe world rounds up and calls this a 16'If that is all true then this is likely a "chestnut" model.This thing is light! It was far easier getting this on top of my car than a modern two person kayak! This was not my personal boat; I have not used it in the water. There is a small retaining pond next to my house with 1-2 of water if you'd like to try it out before you buy. I have no ideal if this thing leaks or is ready for bliss.This has been turned up side down in a barn for ever 10 years with a big thick layer of dust.

The exterior has been rinsed off, and she's now upside down outside waiting for you to come rescue her.Canoes of these often take the builder some 500 hours to build! There are a few condition notes: see the brass-repair to the top rail in the mid-section of the boat.A ~10 inch piece of the brass end cap is missing on one end of the boat.One of the long slates at the bottom of the boat has a hair line crack in it (worth mentioning but seems to have no bearing on the functionality). Several spots of loosing their original shellac where they meet the top rail.Middle board in the boat appears to be newer/replaced.If this is a Greenwood then:Greenwood canoes are well-known to wood-canvas canoe enthusiasts in British Columbia. Bill Greenwood built canoes in Richmond, BC from the mid 1930’s to 1975. His workmanship was unequalled not to mention all of the Philippine mahogany (luan) used in components such as gunwales, decks and thwarts.

Anyone who knows these canoes bows their head in reverence whenever they speak of Bill Greenwood and his canoes.
