Bear Mountain Boats Freedom 17'9" Wooden Cedar Strip Canoe (Stripper) Tandem

This wooden cedar-strip canoe (Freedom 17’9”) was built by the seller from plans by Bear Mountain Boats. The canoe has an asymmetrical hull design and handles very well in wind and heavy water--tracking well in open water, yet quite responsive when turns are needed. The canoe is a high-volume craft that was designed for heavy loads and easily accommodates up to 4 passengers, or 2-3 paddlers and gear for an extended wilderness trip. The hull is ¼” western cedar, the stem bands are ash covered with brass, and the gunwales are reinforced sitka spruce. Seat frames are ash.
