Marine-grade plywood and fiberglass/epoxy 3.4 meters long (11.1 foot) .7m beam width 17kg -easy to carry in one hand This is a hand-built canoe, using stitch-and-glue technique. Everything but the top rub-rail is encased in fiberglass, inside and out. In this way, this is a fiberglass boat with a wooden core. This makes it very durable, but lighter weight than an all-fiberglass boat. The top rail has some areas where the varnish is damaged/cracking (see last photo).
This can be easily sanded-back and re-varished. I can do this for you for extra $50. The fiberglass is 99.9% solid. Minimal wear/tear. Canoe fits one adult and one child easily.
I have taken it on Sydney Harbour many times. Large waves will spill in but it is safe in the bays. Tallowah Dam is a great paddle. We packed lots of bulky gear in this canoe. With a string paddler, it kept up with sea kayaks on the same trip.
Boat is relatively short, so turns easily. Minimal rocker, so it also tracks straight. Medium beam width makes it stable (kids can jump off the ends), but can be paddled with a double-ended kayak paddle. Seats can be installed, but I just sit on the bottom, using the strap as a back-rest. Small kids can sit on the ends.
Compartments at either end serve to make the canoe "unsinkable" I have built similar style boats from Pygmy. I used the same techniques to build this boat. Detail here: https://www.pygmyboats.com/kit-construction-process.html Pickup from Neutral Bay (North Sydney). Inspection welcome. Test-paddle is possible.
When I cut the panels for this boat, I cut a SECOND set of panels. These are in a different listing, in case you want to build this boat yourself. Henry 0423 298 841
