Bell "northwind" Kevlar Canoe And Accessories

We are selling our beloved Bell "Northwind" canoe and accessories. The canoe was purchased in September, 2004 from Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co in Old Forge, NY, and has served us well over the past 14 years. We have used it for both flatwater river, casual lake paddling and overnight trips; it has never been used in whitewater. It paddles like a dream, tracks straight and can be used for solo or tandem paddling. The canoe is 17' 6" in length and weighs about 40 lbs.

It is made of Kevlar with anodized aluminum gunwales. The seats are cane, ash and black walnut. It has been meticulously maintained, always stored covered, and coated with UV protectant before outings. There is a 1/4" perforation near the starboard gunwale, the result of an unfortunate collision with a road sign during a portage. This occurred early in our experience with the canoe and it has never caused any problem with structure or function.

The bottom has exterior scratches from use. But it is otherwise in excellent condition. Included in the purchase price are: Two wooden bent-shaft Grey Owl paddles, marketed by Old Town. These are 50" and 52", appropriate for paddlers between 5' 8" and 6' 2". Each weighs about 24 oz.

Both in excellent condition. Foam-block-and-strap car-top carrying system. Thule rack and attachments for canoe which fit our Honda Pilot and could probably be adjusted to fit most other cars. Local pickup only from Exit 23 area of NYS Thruway/I-87 near Albany, NY.
