- Royalex construction for strength and a light, manageable weight - Ash gunwales, yolks, seats and handles - Factory fit skid plates - With four wooden paddles, including a Grey Owl Paddle Company Touring Paddle and a child’s paddle - Includes a canoe trolley and two canoe car straps The Bell Northwind represents the perfect balance of characteristics. Handling just as easily solo as with two or three people on board, the Northwind tracks in a straight line naturally and turns on the water effortlessly. A gently raised bow and stern allow the boat to cut through rougher moving water unthreatened, and a wide, flat hull gives ample stability and reduces the boat’s drought, allow it to glide through the most shallow waters without beaching. With the streamlined hull designed for effortless speed, the boat can be paddled easily for hours at a time without fatigue, gliding at a surprising pace and maintaining course and momentum on water. The low, curved sides reduce the effects of crosswinds and a deliberate symmetry from front to back in seating arrangement means that the boat cannot be spun by the wind.
These features give the Northwind remarkable versatility, performing as a class leader on every outing from ambitious expeditions, to days on the river to afternoons and evenings fishing in the sun. Crafted from Royalex, this model is the ideal combination of lightweight and durable. The Northwind can be lifted onto even tall vans by one person, and with even more ease by two people. The boat is also capable of withstanding big impacts, as the Royalex bounces unlike other popular materials which are prone to shatter. The Northwind also incorporates factory fitted toughened skid plates on the bow and stern which allow it to be cast off and beached even on course, rocky ground without damage.
Ash gunwales, yokes, seats and handles are finished to a range of colours from deep mahogany to lighter maple. The Northwind’s seats are woven from wicker which offers superior comfort and style. Endless River airbags have been fitted at both bow and stern, giving the Northwind positive buoyancy which prevents it from sinking, should it be capsized. These can be inflated by pump or by mouth and are easily removable. A range of accessories are included in the price of the Northwind, as well as the airbags: Three wooden adult paddles, including one handcrafted Grey Owl Paddle Company Touring Paddle and an additional wooden child’s Paddle.
A purpose designed folding aluminium canoe trolley allows the canoe to be easily manoeuvred or moved long distances on land by a solo adventurer whilst protecting the canoe from any bumps. This is ideal for circumnavigating obstacles and for moving between parking places and sometimes remote launch/landing sites.
