Country/Region of Manufacture: Canada
Boat Type: Canoe
This Canoe has been a part of my life for the past 50 years or so. It was bought at an auction by my father and his friend at about that time, having been used as an old hire boat on the Thames. My father undertook a painstaking refurbishment of it and carefully made the seats and floor boards and the pennant pole at the front . He varnished the whole thing so many times...he didn't want it to leak and it still doesn't. It has been used by the family on very rare outings, but as you will see from the condition of the hull has not been dragged across anything harder than a carpet !
It has hung in the roof of my garage for 10 years now so I have decided that it needs a new owner to make better use of it. Perhaps a trip to Henley this year which it would relish ! It has a small repair which was undertaken by my father at the time of the refurbishment and done beautifully. The pictures show this. It is about 16ft 6 long and just under 3 ft wide.
It goes like a rocket as it is quite narrow and not flat bottomed like the new ones. You can comfortably have 3 sitting in the boat with one high on the seat at the back and two more in the padded seats. In fact it can be propelled by the rear person alone if required. It really is a rather versatile. There are the slings that I had used for it to sit in the roof of my garage and I also have the pulleys etc to get it up into the roof.
The paddles are a couple of different sizes. Due to its size and weight I'm afraid I will not be sending this item I'm afraid, unless I can have an undertaking from the buyer that the boat is taken in it's condition when the courier picks it up, and I can show proof that they did pick it up. I would also need the buyer to arrange for and pay the courier. Payment would of course have to be made to me for the boat before hand and cleared by Paypal. As to price, I spoke to a historic boat company and have priced accordingly.
