Canadian Cedar Strip Canoe, 16 Foot, Broad Beamed, Extremely Stable. Hand Built.

Hand Built red cedar canoe. Glass and epoxy laminated inside and out, a very strong and light construction. Two watertight bulkhead with twist on hatches. Mahogany Seats and yoke, with plastic caning whickerwork seating. This will not sag or go baggy when wet.

Designed by Bear mountain canoes and is 16'4' long. Mahogany and maple gunnels screwed in with stainless steel screws then plugged. All fittings are stainless steel. This is the first canoe that we have built and therefore there are a few cosmetic blemishes where some adjustment and re-fetteling has been done. This doesen't compromise the canoes strength of build or sea worthiness.

Two very good new paddles made from Norwegian pine and mahogany. Two finishes on the canoe, the inside is dead matt which is better for grip when wet and will not glint the sun into your eyes. The outside is high gloss varnish and beautiful. I was going to have an electric outboard motor with this canoe that can fit on either gunnel with a 45ah Bosch battery set in a sealed box that would be situated under the yoke. It has 18lbs of thrust and should propel you along quite nicely, or slow enough to do a spot of fishing, should you wish.

I can, at a charge, get these items and install them for the new owner. Ideal for going up river or on a lake to a lovely picknick spot and having a relaxing afternoon with your family. She is sea worthy but caution is recommended if you havent it before as the sea can be a hard mistress. Whilst the canoe is approximately 20kg it is best handled by two people for safety and not doing too much damage to the finish. Once you have tried it out a coupe of times this canoe is easy to steer and glides along hardly causing a ripple.

Many long hours have gone into the making of this canoe and approx £750 cost in materials.who ever wins the bidding will have a lovely canoe and a work of two skilled men.Happy paddling. I have also applied a super grade sealant. The manufacturer claims it lasts 9 years on cars. On this I would say 1 year and the rest is a bonus.
