Mad River Horizon 15 Canoe, Royalex, Kneeling Thwart, Mast Fitting, Air Bags, Kevlar Bang Plates. I purchased this canoe as a replacement boat for when my existing Royalex canoe finally 'died'. That hasn't happened as they are remarkably resilient, so I've decided to sell this boat as it is not getting used as much as it should. It has been stored indoors in my garage throughout and well protected from UV light, freezing and exposure to the elements. It has scuffs associated with relatively light use, but no structural damage.

This boat is significantly lighter than any comparable craft made in current materials (i.e. Post the end of Royalex production). Boat weight is critically important for both carrying, loading and portaging the boat, as well as being able to paddle and manoeuvre it effectively. The Horizon 15 is competent, solo and tandem, as both an open water tourer and a river boat on up to Grade 3 water (in suitably skilled hands). It can easily manage sufficient equipment and provisions for multi-day remote trips, is relatively straightforward to pole and snub and moves well under sail.

It is an excellent canoe for novice, intermediate and advanced paddlers. It is well suited to both recreational use and as a boat for canoe leaders and guides. Each canoe is made of a specific Royalex sheet designed for the intended use of that canoe. Royalex is very resistant to impact and its weight makes it the preferred material for paddlers wanting to balance durability and weight in demanding conditions. It has “memory," allowing it to distort to absorb impact and then rebound to original form after pressure is relieved. Royalex is repairable should the worst-case scenario ever occur.'
