This was used by the scouts to build a canvas covered canoe and also a dugout solid wood canoe.

This is not a big manual in fact it is about 15 pages long and is part of a book which was written by Dan Beard the well known National Scout Commissioner at that time. He gives instructions for building the two types of canoe with drawings to illustrate this. This is by no means to be considered a complete book on canoe building. It just gives the simple methods used to build the two kinds of canoe in a very compact little manual. It was considered to be enough for scouts to build a canoe from so it should work for you also.

The canoes are both 16 feet in length and the canvas canoe is light in weight whilst the dugout being solid wood is much heavier (and almost indestructible of course).
