This is a 16' cedar strip canoe. It is a "wabnaki" designed by master Maine guide Gil Gilpatrick . It weighs 47 pounds. The strips were clamped while the glue set rather than being stapled to the forms as is the common practice. As a result the ugly marks left by staples are not present .

The skin was covered with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. It was then given 5 coats of Epiphanes marine varnish. Included are two custom paddles and two life jackets.
