Mad River 17-foot Kevlar Canoe

For sale is a used Mad River 17-foot Kevlar canoe. It weighs only 55 pounds and has a broad beam, shallow V-bottom hull which is ideal for whitewater but equally at home in lakes. There is a portage brace in the middle of the canoe that permits one person to carry it. The rails, seats, and thwarts are wood and the seat bottoms are woven cane - all in good shape. The canoe comes with two fiberglass-reinforced wooden paddles and foam pads for transport on a car roof without a rack.

The canoe has recently been sanded and refinished along with the wooden seats, rails, and center thwart. This canoe is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. If you are familiar with the qualities of Kevlar (strength, low weight, resistance to penetration) and the reputation of Mad River, you know this is not just another recreational canoe. Note: I have completed touching up around the "Mad River Canoe" labels and the rabbit logo with a 3/8" artist's brush and also completed a small amount of sanding and varnishing on the seat frames and the main thwart. The photos were taken two months ago after I finished the main part of the hull. I plan to give the gunwales one more coat of varnish and then call it "done".
