Mad River Explorer 16 Kx Kevlar Canoe

I might regret this but up for sale is my much loved Mad River Explorer 16 KX Kevlar Canoe which has been very well looked after, stored upside down inside my dry integral garage since I bought it from a good canoeing friend about 8 years ago It has been a great companion on several adventures, canoeing rivers and canals in the North West but now my eldest son is working, driving and into cars, he doesn't want to accompany his boring dad on canoe trips so it's sadly time to sell on I bought it because of its weight - it weighs 24 kg which is super light for a 16'3" canoe with wooden gunwales and as I'm not built for lifting it is so easy to handle The Explorer is also a great all round shape and it's a beautiful deep red just like Bill Masons canoe I have tried to photograph it from most angles so you can see it's good condition There are lots of small scratches on the hull in the gel coat which protects the layer of fibreglass and then the Kevlar - there are only a couple of what I would consider deeper scratches that go through to the fibreglass but certainly nothing serious or anything that compromises the integrity of the hull We have pulled up on shale river beds a few times and they always add a few more scratches but that's what the gel coat is designed to do The decals were getting a bit tatty so I got some new ones from Mad River about 4 years ago For anyone that wants to learn about the Explorer KX - there are specifications on www.madrivercanoe.com The price new will be now over £3,000 so my buy-it-now price is less than half It can be collected at my home on an evening or weekend near Leyland Lancashire or from my business warehouse in Preston just off junction 31A off the M6 during the week Ask any questions and happy to receive any viewings
