But then the clouds broke and it preheated in about 15 min. I was expecting an all day affair but once it was hot the clouds didn't really affect the heat. I made corn bread, chicken, and steamed asparagus. It might take getting used to on the timing. But everything was delicious.

I was able to cook everything in about 2 hours (the first hour was preheating) and I probably didn't need to leave the chicken in so long. It definitely would feed 4 people a full meal, and 8 if you are just cooking an entrée with some steamed veggies. By the end of cooking the inside was close to 400 degrees. This will likely be my go to summer meal solution when you don't want to heat up the house. And I'm wondering how it is compared to the smaller brother, the Sport, which has almost the same area of mirrors, but a much smaller volume. WOWKevin German on Jan 12, 2017Suns low on the horizon, put the solar stove out at 9 AM, and by 4 PM (sun down), the gauge was 1/2 way to 2, but steam was coming out, had to move the thing around to avoid tree shadows throughout the day, but in the end, triumph... Juice was in the bottom of the two pans, the beef sausages, baby tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, and chili peppers were all cooked to perfection... It blew my mind that this thing actually cooked anything, with the ambient temp at -21C, and the sun so low on the horizon... Summers almost here, only another 9 months to go... :) I will be a repeat customer... But we made three batches of yummy bread rolls and cooked up some sausages. The bread cooks so well.

The steam escaping from the grill was freezing but the grill stayed hot. Amazing and so excited to try new recipes and cook in the grill. BAKING IN THE ICEMark on Dec 31, 2016Yesterday, with the sun at about the lowest it can get on the horizon and the snow about 2' deep and the ambient temperature at about 9F (-13C) I baked bread. Pre-heat in about an hour and then bake in about an hour. Bring inside and the temperature stays above 120F for many hours allowing the yogurt to "cook".

The day before was potatoes ham. The vacuum tube technology is great! NOT DISAPPOINTED...Dan Helie on Dec 28, 2016The maiden voyage was yesterday when we finally had some sun after a big snow storm, it worked without issue as advertised. I was sable to boil water (test) and heat leftover turkey in little time at subzero temps. I will keep experimenting as I have with my other solar cooker.
