SOLWAY DORY CURLEW OPEN SAILING CANOE You are bidding on an Curlew model of an open sailing canoe designed and build by Solway Dory that is great fun to sail and paddle. This is a glass fibre open canoe that can be paddled but has been specifically strengthened and designed to allow it to be sailed. The Canoe is fitted with rudder and centreboard to facilitate efficient sailing and buoyant outriggers are also fitted to assist with stability when sailing. Sailing canoes are the ideal small boat for adventure sailing and give you the freedom to launch anywhere, go anywhere without the constraints of yacht clubs, marinas and slipways. Unlike most sailing dinghies they can be carried on your roof rack, are quick and easy to rig and are easily launched and recovered without the need for a slipway.

All sailing can be an adventure, whether exploring local water on a sunny afternoon or a weeks long expeditions. The Curlew design is open decked. This allows easy storage of kit and persons and keeps the overall weight down and the canoe plus mast is easily transported on the roof of a car. As such this kayak is capable of both day trips and multi  day expeditions.    Included in the sale are buoyancy bags which provide emergency buoyancy by displacing water within the canoe.

This model has been fitted with both a small desk on the bow to prevent to much water entering the canoe when sailing in waves and side seats to allow comfier seating.   This makes this particular model more seaworthy.
