I think the trimaran hull is the answer to this.

I have tried standing in it on flat water and it works, and I also took it out on the bay in quite choppy water and it handles itself really well. I am now buying soft water cells and drybags and planning a 6 day trip down the Darling River. So far I am pretty sure it will carry the weight and have the storage space I need. The size of the kayak makes it easy to put on the roof of the car and carry by hand if needed (but I did buy the wheels that fit into the scupper holes). It was an easy pickup from the wharehouse.
