Load (apprx.) 350lbs (159kgs)Height at Bow/Stern 18"/18" (0.46m/0.46m)Height amidships 11.5" (0.29m) Crew 1 plus maybe a small 1The DIY open “Canadian” style canoe kit with built in buoyancy fore and aft that can be fitted with small hatches (not supplied) for storage of valuables etc while on the water.Although this canoe can be built in either 4mm or 6mm plywood but the kit is supplied in 5 or 6mm marine plywood.This canoe is ideal for a solo paddle but will also take an adult (maybe 2) and some gear for day trip or weekend camp etc or perhaps a day on the water for the kids. This kit is built using the "Stitch & Tape" method of construction. All you need to do is join the planks and bottom panel using a simple method we use in most our designs, drill small holes in each hull completed hull panel as per instructions and assemble by "stitching" it all together with the plastic cable ties. Once all the stitches are tight, the hull is aligned and checked before the epoxy is applied to the inside seams (plank joints).

Then the hull is turned over and the outer seams are taped and saturated with epoxy. Once that job is completed the hull is turned back upright, the bulkheads are glued into place and the trim is fitted along with the fore and aft decks. The inside is then prepared and painted/varnished and the hatches are fitted in their holes. Now the outside of the hull can be prepared and painted or varnished. Once all the painting is done, make or buy a paddle and you're ready for launching.

The build takes around 5 days to complete but has been done in less using fast epoxy. Once complete, you have a brand new canoe for less than the cost of even a cheap, mass produced plastic one and you will have built it! Delivery time for Kits is normally 3 - 6 working days from receiving payment (we will confirm with order or contact us). All our kits are normally cut to order on next working day after receipt of payment and despatched the following day (3 days to deliver). However, if we have no plywood in stock, it will take a little longer (up to 6 days to deliver). Note: Being a canoe, these boats do not need to be certified under the European Recreational Craft Directive. However, they would be Category D, SHELTERED WATERS: Designed for use on sheltered coastal waters, small bays, small lakes, rivers and canals when conditions up to and including wind force 4 and significant wave heights up to and including 0.3m may be experienced, with occasional waves of 0.5m maximum height, for example from passing vessels.
