The 10 footer (3.05m) will take one average adult around 12 stone (75kgs) and perhaps a small one or some gear.

The 12’ version will take a total crew/gear load of 28 stone (180kgs).The canoe, in both sizes, is great on the water once you get used to her and will surprise you with it’s performance which has proved to be better than we expected from the design criteria. They track well even in a breeze with choppier conditions and are quite stable. Although designed to be paddled while kneeling, seats are an option. They are quite popular these days, despite the control advantages of kneeling and some people seem to prefer them so we will fit simple seats if required. Your canoe will be built to order and to a high standard by a boat builder with over 30 years experience building and repairing small boats in most materials but mainly wood and plywood.

We use a selected, quality hardwood marine plywood so we are able to give you a 2 year warranty on our workmanship. In the standard build, the hull is assembled and glued. Bulkheads are fitted fore and aft which, along with the decks, form a watertight compartment or buoyancy tanks. These are fitted with small, air-tight round screw in hatches for storage of valuables etc and to air the compartments when not in use. Alternatively, if you prefer, drain plugs or a simple hole drilled through the base with a cork or rubber bung to stop the water getting in could be fitted.

In any case, some form of drainage should be fitted to them. The hull is fitted with solid wood trim along the top edge and a yoke is fitted centrally. This could be a straight carry bar if you prefer. Your canoe is then prepared for paint and varnish - one colour outside and white (or your choice) inside with the bulkheads, decks, yoke and trim varnished. We make your paddle and varnish it, finally adding a mooring rope to complete the package.

They can be carried on a car roof rack, depending on the size of the car to the size of the canoe. There is a limit to how much overhang you can have and you must not restrict your view from the driver’s seat. If you have a suitable four door car then it may also suit an inflatable roof rack or canoe car kit.We can also discuss you canoe being built in two halves that bolt together for the water and then unbolt for transport and storage.Overall, these canoes have been a very successful design which have proved ideal for fishing, touring or for just pottering about on your local sheltered waters.* It can also take a small outboard motor - 2hp petrol or suitable electric outboard, all of which we can discuss with you.
