This listing is for a Selway Fisher Wren canoe. I built it over the summer of 2014 using plans supplied by Selway Fisher. It is built from 4mm Gaboon ply using the "Stitch and Tape" method of construction. Rather than go into loads of detail here I'll point you towards Song of the Paddle (dot) co (dot) uk and suggest you search for "Selway Fisher Wren Build Diary. I'll post the link but I know classifieds board can get a bit funny about that sort of thing!
Https://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/viewtopic.php? P=552297#p552297 It hasn't had particularly heavy use, mainly on the Brecon and Monmouth canal, and the Avon near Pershore. I probably spent longer building it than I have paddling it. I amended the original plans and added built in flotation chambers at either end. These have watertight hatches so can be used for storage as well.
For it's size it is surprisingly light, I can lift and carry it solo, although it's length can make that a bit unwieldy. I have repainted since it was finished, and that paint has held up pretty well, but there are a few (very few) blisters showing through in places. There is also some discolouration of the varnished wood but not much. I have two wooden paddles which I forgot to photograph that are included in the sale, they suit the style of the canoe better than metal and plastic ones. I enjoyed the build so much and am incredibly proud of what I managed to achieve in a small garage, however time and circumstance mean it hasn't had much (any!) use for the last couple of years.
I'd rather sell it and let someone else enjoy it then let it slowly degrade. Due to the size I think it will be collection only (I'd love to see the face of the person behind the counter of the Post Office!) and I don't have any means to transport it. I'm based just north of Ross-on-Wye, near Fownhope if you know the area. I really don't have much idea about how to price it, so I'm going to say £500 but am open to serious and sensible offers.
