*This listing is for DIT plans and kits for the Snowshoe 12, a solo canoe styled after the Rushton "Wee Lassie". To order DIY plans only, please see our SnowShoe 12 Canoe Plans listing. Stem Height: 15" Amidship: 10" The SnowShoe 12 is a great first time project, easy to build but with the size and capability of a real canoe. This is a fast, straight-tracking solo canoe with great performance. Keeping the center of gravity low, using a thin foam cusion right on the bottom provides excellent stability. The result is a relaxing ride that requires practically no effort to travel miles with a double blade paddle (an easy to build design is included with the plans). The prototype of this boat was featured in a five year museum tour, "Craft Today - Poetry Of The Physical".
It is slated for display at the American Craft Museum in New York City. Partial kits provide the unique materials needed for each particular boat design. Specifically, they include cut-to-length 3.7 oz. 72" width heat-shrink Dacron fabric, Kevlar roving, structural epoxy adhesive (1 to 1) mix thickened to a viscosity similar to Vaseline (very low toxicity), and Heat N Bond tape (hot melt glue). The plans consist of full-sized patterns, detailed scaled drawings, a complete bill of materials and a step-by-step construction manual.
Please note that this listing is for plans and kits. To order plans only, please see our Classic 12 Plans listing. Epoxy cannot be shipped internationally so if you are NOT a US domestic customer, please select the "International Kit" option at ordering. The kit cost and international shipping cost will be adjusted. Geodesic Airolite Boats has been around since August 1982, and our unique ultralight boats have been featured in approximately 100 stories and feature articles as well as several museum displays.
