Seating: Double
Boat Type: Kayak
Unique vintage hand built double Canadian style canoe/kayak. This Canadian style double seater canoe was had built in the 1980s and was primarily used on The Thames. Each section is approximately eight feet long and combines to make a canoe of approximately sixteen feet in length when assembled.Canoe is approx. Three feet wide, basically a full-size Canadian style open canoe. It's held together by hollow metal tubes used to connect the two halves together then passing wire rope through and tightening the wire rope until the two halves fit snugly together. Each half has two seats so you could carry four persons (two adults and two children?) at a push, and there are four watertight storage containers, two in each half.As I have said, this is a hand-built craft from the 80s and would benefit from a little TLC here and there.
I inherited this from a relative and have never used it on the water and cannot guarantee its water tightness but am assured it is and I will not accept a return on this item. The canoe is large but light and can easily be transported on a car roof etc. Please see the images s they form part of the description. This item is absolutely unique and is a real Swallows and Amazons adventure waiting for a new owner! Please note this is COLLECTION ONLY from Basingstoke area, I will not post or entertain having a courier involved as from past experience that just gets too complicated. No overseas bidders and any bidder with less than 10 feedback will have their bid rejected unless you contact me well ahead of the end of the auction to discuss.Item must be collected within 7 days of the end of the auction. Apologies to the genuine classifieds board users out there for the above paragraph, recent nonpayers necessitate having to go into these provisos.
