Venture Prospector 16ft Canadian Canoe Sadly, I am selling off my canoeing and kayaking gear due to a shoulder injury that just isn't getting any better - no, I didn't do it paddling! This is a 16ft Venture Prospector double canoe. These are a great all rounder boat, ideal to learn in but of a design that lets you progress more than some more basic designs. They are made by the same company that make Pyranha kayaks, here in the UK and they are a well tried and tested design. With it being the 16ft version it is ideal for two persons, but I have done plenty in these boats solo.
The extra length (i.e. Over the 15ft boats) gives a significant extra volume, great if the paddlers are larger, you wish to carry camping gear or perhaps small children in the middle. This boat has also had a replacement seat added that allows a mast to be fitted should you wish to try canoe sailing, which can be quite exciting. The boat itself is in really good condition and hasn't done any work in the last few years (see above). I have tried to take pictures to show the general condition of the boat, which is to my mind pretty good.
There are the usual scratches and scrapes for sure, but nothing of any significance. It has the ash-webbed seats, which to my mind are far superior to the hard plastic affairs on cheaper boats. In addition there is a kneeling thwart which is great for solo paddling (which is how this boat has mainly been used). There are also Endless River buoyancy blocks fitted, which is an essential safety feature. I should be able to include a couple of paddles and buoyancy aids with the boat - nothing special but certainly good enough.
I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the boat, or even just canoeing in general. Shortly I will have more items listed, including a couple of kayaks and clothing etc.
