I'm selling my beloved We-no-nah Prospector canoe. The canoe is 15' long and has a Royalex hull. The canoe has been extensively used and has lots of scratches and minor dents in the hull. One scratch, on the stern, has gone through the green outer surface exposing a small amount of the white internal layer of the Royalex (this is shown in a photo). The canoe has been assessed by a qualified canoe instructor who has confirmed that the hull is in structurally sound condition.
There is also scuffing on the deck plates, by the carrying handles where the boat has been inverted to lift it on to my shoulders. The canoe has been extensively outfitted to make it versatile for both canoe touring and river trips. The modifications include the following: Central middle seat added, matching the original We-no-nah wooden and black woven webbing seats front and rear. The middle seal is mounted so that the front is 1" lower than the back enabling it to be used as an effective kneeling thwart as well as a comfortable seat. The seat was supplied by Endless River.
Solid Endless River polystyrene buoyancy blocks are situated to the front and rear of the canoe. These have cordura nylon covers with storage nets and bungees. They are fixed in to the canoe with both nylon straps, which tie to the carrying handles and buckles glued to the bottom of the canoe with River Bond adhesive, and rope lacing. This ensures that they are super secure. The hull is laced to allow luggage to be easily secured in place.
There are floating rope painters front and rear to allow the boat to be tied off or lined down rapids or in low water. A cherry wood moulded yoke has been installed to replace the standard yoke. This is much more ergonomic and comfortable than the standard one and looks fantastic. This was supplied by Endless River. There is a sailing thwart and rubber mast foot (glued in using River Bond) to allow the use of a standard canoe pole and sail to convert the canoe in to a sailing craft.
Sailing dinghy jam cleats are positioned on the underside of the carrying yoke to allow the sail rope rigging to be securely held in position whilst being able to be released in an instant if necessary. The canoe has been stored in a dark garage to ensure that the hull is not damaged by UV rays. All of the nuts, bolts and washers used to secure the centre seat and sailing thwart are stainless steel. I'm selling the canoe as a long term knee injury is preventing me from using it. It has been used on multi day tours in Scotland including The Caledonian Canal from Inverness to Fort William as well as numerous river trips on the Rivers Severn and Wye.
It has also been used on the local canals. The buyer needs to be able to collect the canoe in person and must have secure roof bars and the necessary straps to tie the canoe down to the roof of the vehicle. I will accept payment by BACS or Paypal, on completion of the auction I will contact the successful bidder and request a 10% deposit to secure the sale. If you have any questions please ask.
