A much loved, family owned We-no-nah Aurora (16ft, 4.9M) open canoe (https://www.wenonah.com/Canoes.aspx? Id=11) in Royalex (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royalex) nicknamed 'The Gnou'. Our partner on many wonderful adventures. Price new £2,494. This has been used on UK rivers for day trips and overnight camping adventures, over the last 15-years, since my daughters were 4 and 7; the River Wye being a particular favourite.
The girls used the seats and I've padelled in the centre on a knealing pad (also for sale). The Gnou happily dealt with the 3 of us, plus overnight camping gear, through till girls were in their teens. However, the kids are kids no more and so it is time for 'The Gnou' to go to a new home to be part of new adventures, wild stories and cherished memories - do you remember the time we all went for an accidental swim on the River Tweed, Dad? ;-) 'The Gnou' has skid plates and loop attached painters bow and stern, black vinyl gunwales, two webbing seats, centre brace and carry yoke (all in Ash). The carry yoke has a check in it which I've glued.
This doesn't seem to effect it's function when portaging (carrying the canoe) so I haven't replaced it. New parts are avialable if this was important to you. It is a straight forward swap as the yoke is held on by 4 bolts. There is the normal wear and tear of river use with plenty of scratches to the bottom of the hull but overall it is in sound condition (see pictures). Two minor dings from pointy sticks (more pilot error), which pierced the outer skin of the Royalex (Royalex is a vinyl, ABS plastic sandwich with a ABS foam core), have been filled with epoxy to prevent any degradation to the core.
Every season the hull gets thoroughly cleaned, polished and waxed with a UV protector to minimise any light degradation. I use T-cut red colour restorer, an open bottle of which you can have to keep The Gnou looking its best. The canoe's been stored on saw horses to keep it off the ground. I'm also selling associated open canoe gear as my partner and I are now keen sea-kayakers as follows: Grey Owl Sagamore Deep water paddleAiguille Foam kneeling saddle/ seat/ thwartXXL expedition barrel (blue) - great for camping gear and fits beautifully layed flat across the canoe.GUL bouyancy aid 50N (L-XL).bow and stern float bags (brand new) If you are interested in a package deal for some or all of these items, then message me.
