Wooden canoe frame, 3.56 metre long 0.75 metre beam.The boat has been a winter project, I built one the year before, enjoyed the process, so built another. Once skinned these canoes paddle easily, are very light (mine weights 10kg complete with buoyancy) and if you paddle on canals, rock free rivers or placid lakes/estuaries are perfect, especially if you have to lift it onto a car roof or portage any distance.The materials used are douglas fir stringers gunnels and keel, with steamed ash ribs. There are no metal fasteners, almost no adhesives, and all the lashings are made with artificial sinew, so it is a very 'green' boat. The frame has been finished with a yacht varnish.Finally it is also worth mentioning that they look very pretty.
