Boat Type: Canoe
We are selling our lovely Old Town Penobscot canoe together with a range of canoeing kit and equipment. Sadly personal circumstances mean we cannot get out on the water anymore so it's time for someone else to get some use from it. This is a great canoe, which can easily be paddled solo as it is so lightweight. Equally it makes a great family canoe - the additional seat we are including in the sale accommodates a third adult or a child with ease. We've always found the canoe to be incredibly stable and manoeuvrable in the water.
Its length is approx 16 '. The great thing about the Penobscot is its construction from the ultra light but very strong material - Royalex. Light to handle in and out of the water, this is a lovely canoe which is in good condition. The hull is sound though it has the usual scuffs and scratches you would expect from normal river use. The worst of these are shown clearly in the photos - they are cosmetic only.
The canoe is about 8 or so years old. The wooden paddles are the same age (original) but everything else was acquired from new about six years ago. Everything is in very good condition - just showing the signs of normal use. The two fixed seats are upholstered in webbing and are also both in good, sound condition. We are including a package of canoe gear in the sale.
This quality equipment is as follows: *Plastic slot-in seat (for when you want to take a third person in the boat with you). This is sturdy enough for an adult to use and fits/removes in seconds. It can be used in a variety of positions in the canoe - we've photographed it in a couple of positions for illustration, but it's down to personal preference. No tools required - simply slots in and out. This is a purpose-designed canoe seat.
*Three wooden paddles. These are Old Town paddles. They measure respectively (length) 42 ", 63" and 57". The shortest is suitable for a child and the other two are adult sized. *Further adult paddle - lightweight, by TNP, 59" in length.
Again, for adult. *Canoe airbags to assist with flotation. These are the originals and we have never used them (and we have never needed them as the canoe has never capsized). They have both got a slow puncture but they're included should someone be minded to fix and use them! *Ekla folding canoe trolley - great for transportation to car (or even neat enough to take on canoe trips, for the occasional portage).
It's shown ready for use but it folds down into the bag for easy storage. Enables a person to move the canoe by themselves. *Car loading kit - enables easy loading onto your roof rack single handedly. The safety line is absent - we never used it anyway but if you wanted to, a simple piece of cord could be used (it's simply a fail safe and not used in the loading at all) The canoe has been stored outside but raised well off the ground and under cover, with the additional protection of a tarpaulin. Everything else has been stored in a weathertight outbuilding.
It's been cleaned and put away after every use. I'm happy to respond to any questions. Viewings are possible by arrangement. Local collection only and strictly cash on collection please.
