We are selling our family canoe, a beautiful Old Town 18' canoe built in 1939. We have used it for the last few summers here in the pristine waters of South Lake Tahoe, but now our boys are grown and our storage s limited. The original build sheet shows it was built in 1939 and early 1940, delivered to Central Airport, Inc. In Camden, New Jersey. It has new George Kirby Paint Company paint in the correct dark green color, and the interior was finished with 5 coats of Epiphanes Marine Varnish 3 years ago.
The original birch thwarts and decks are in place, as are the original serial number, 128392. The original gunwales were not repairable, so I had full length custom padded rubrails professionally sewn from Sunbrella, which have served well and look nice. The seats are new units, fitted carefully, and are sturdy cane units that look great. The original brass finishing rails fore and aft are there in great condition. I am including the pair of beautiful 52" paddles that I bought for the boat.
A stunning and stylish antique canoe that we have used out on the lake, it is safe and handles well. Wouldn't you rather have a canoe like this with endless soul and style than a modern blow-molded plastic monstrosity? Local pick-up only in South Lake Tahoe, CA., and you must complete the purchase and pick-up within ten days of auction closing...winter is coming! HAPPY BIDDING!
