Old Town 18" Guide Canoe (All Wood-Custom Built)

This is the 18' Guide model canoe, custom built by OLD TOWN CANOE in Old Town, Maine. I ordered the canoe in 2000 and was able to pick-up the canoe about one year later. It took them a year to build the boat ! The canoe is solid, water tight and usable right now. However, it does need a little TLC as seen in the photographs.

Nothing serious, mostly a little sanding and varnish. There are a couple of places where the wood has deteriorated on the ends but has no effect on using the canoe. Easily repaired by a novice. This craft has a clear fiberglass covering on the outside of the hull, which was applied by OLD TOWN when they built this boat. I chose this finish instead of the canvas and paint treatment which would have required more maintenance.

This is a beautiful canoe which handles very well in the water. The serial number is:562879.I'm only selling because I have reached the age where I no longer participate in these outdoor activities, as I once did. This would make a great canoe for river or lake travel and camping or for the Fall moose hunt. It would also look really nice hanging from the ceiling in your great room! They don't make many of these anymore because the price to build one is very high, last time I checked, a new one like this was over $9000.00.
