Old Town Camper 15 Canoe In Royalex - Discontinued & Highly Sought After

Highly sought after and discontinued Camper 15 in green royalex hull. Light use over a period of about 15 yrs. There were two versions of the camper and this one is the shorter version at 14 ft 10 inches (4.5m). It weighs only 25.8kg. I purchased this brand new from Kent Canoes and have used it mainly on the Thames, the River Wey and Lake Ullswater in Cumbria.

Only light use but being made of royalex it has acquired the usual cosmetic scratches/marks/minor dents that are typical of this material. Has a couple of waxing streaks and over enthusiastic cleaning rub marks. Although extremely tough and durable - it does tend to scratch quite easily on gravel etc. When in use, any new cosmetic scratches will be a light colour but will fade back to green in a number of days. This is a feature of this material.

The wooden seat thwarts/thwarts are in good order but have started to discolour with water ingress beneath the varnish at the edges. This canoe model is intended for camping and touring on still lakes and slow rivers/backwaters like the Norfolk broads but is equally at home on places like the Thames etc. For day trips. It's capable of carrying 385-400kg and has a flat bottom for superior stability so it is ideal for family use or for beginners who would prefer something less "tippy". Due to the flat bottom hull shape it is NOT suitable for whitewater.

Intended for use by two paddlers but is easily paddled solo as well. In fact I have mainly used this paddling solo ( sitting in the front seat facing backwards) it can be paddled by one person. You will need to learn how to do a "J" stroke with your paddle but it is not difficult.Using the J paddle stroke it is possible to paddle from one side only and go forwards in a straight line. It's also highly manouvreable and turns/spins easily. Only selling because I use a couple of other smaller canoes as well and this Camper deserves to be used more than it is.
