Boat Type: Canoe
Original “Old Town Discovery 158” Canadian canoe in red, distributed from Maine, USA (image 5). Carriage handles bow and stern (image 8). Canoe also comes with an extra seat with adjustable straps which easily clips over the side frames of the boat (images 16, 17 and 18) at position required. This has been foam coated for extra comfort (and again this foam can be easily removed). Canoe is approximately 4.780m long (15ft 8 inches) (image 6) by 89cm (2ft 11 inches) wide (image 7).
“Ruk Sports” buoyancy bags in bow and stern. (images 8 and 9) Oak slats across the centre are in excellent order (images 10 and 11). The two contoured seats are in equally good order (image 12). Have added foam to these, as the bow and stern of our crew were always more about comfort than speed!! (This foam can again be easily removed).
This boat has been well loved and well used over UK river rapids and more lately on the more sedate rivers Cherwell and Isis. Standard triple layer hull construction. The hull has a bunch of external 'gores, cuts and grazes' (some of which images 3, 13, 14 and 15. Note 14 & 15 show exterior and interior of the same section (just to demonstrate that these boats have seriously hardwearing hulls!). Also needs a good scrub with a brush and soap suds (image 13) as she has been sat inverted and off the ground, under our apple tree since last autumn) but she is fully watertight, has had no hull repairs, and none of the 'gores, cuts and grazes' affect her overall integrity, or her ability to float!
Lots of life in her yet. Selling because the bow and stern of the crew have grown up and shipped out. Moving house and too difficult to move on a furniture removal van. Will need to be collected or a roof rack, boat trailer or similar from OX5. I will be happy to help you move and load her.
No returns because this is an in person collection auction so winner can look around her, check for damage etc before taking her away. Old Town canoes are no longer available to purchase new. Happy to take any questions you may have. Not in any particular rush to sell her, just recall that we always used to get her ready to hit the river around now each year, in readiness for the spring. Low starting price and ends Sunday 2nd March.
Happy bidding!
