Old Town Canoe - Discovery 164

Old Town Discovery 164 Canoe. This is a tough resiliant popularly-sized all purpose canoe. It is made of Crosslink 3 and is very tough, floats without added flotation and even if filled with water. The Discovery 164 is equally at home on flat water or in white water. It has a sharp bow to split waves and undercut headwinds, a rounded bottom for agility and excellent secondary stability.

The carrying capacity is huge for expeditions or just family days out. It is fast, glides well and is easy to handle on the water. It is Blue in colour with black anodised gunwales. It originally had stained cane seats but as these wore they have now been replaced with black polypropylene webbing. It has been owned by one family since 1996.

There are marks on the bottom and lower sides from use, sliding over rocks etc and some of the thwarts have been repaired. It is laced down the sides for the fitting of flotation bags for serious whitewater use if needed. There are two seats but additional ones can be fitted (not supplied) and we have carried several children in the bottom on foam pads. It is fully functional and ready for a new family to enjoy it for the next phase of it's life.We have used this canoe in both whitewater and on lakes and rivers in the UK and France. It is easy to paddle long distances on flat water as it glides very well.

We have paddled one way the length of Lake Ullswater and then motored back, on Lake Bala, stretches of the Severn and the Dee rivers and even the tidal stretches of the river Dart and creeks.
