Old Town Kennebec 16' River / Whitewater Canoe  - Local Pickup, Only

Old Town Kennebec is a discontinued 16' model from the 1980's, before everybody got a roto-molded kayak and jumped on the river. This extremely durable, stable Royalex boat was designed as a big moving water canoe, e.g the Kennebec River in Maine.. It can be filled with flotation and used in Class IV-V whitewater or loaded with up to 1100 lbs of paddlers and gear for river camping, fishing or hunting. The hull is flat bottomed, no tumblehome, with rockered entry so it is easy to eddy out or spin for entry through a hole in a rock ledge or beaver dam. 36" Kevlar skid plates on front and back leading edges..this boat is made to be almost indestructible. Includes a custom-made removable Styrofoam saddle , can be paddled solo or tandem.

Extended spray skirts deflect water coming over the bow or stern and full coverage spray decks are available from aftermarket sources online. Plastic coated aluminum gunnels are tough, maintain structural rigidity. I'm including two aluminum shaft /plastic blade T-handle paddles I carried as spares. I still use this boat but not nearly as often as I have gone to the "paddle-lite" world of sit-on-top kayaks. Since this is local pickup, only, if you're interested I also have a 2.5 outboard motor that can make this into a lake boat and a Steve Mitchell "Blade" bent shaft paddle that is a joy when solo paddling the boulder gardens.
