Old Town Penobscot 17' Green Royalex, Wooden Oars and Accessories A wonderful canoe for a camping or exploring lakes and rivers with a family. Two wooden cane seats and room for 2 kids and gear between. Purchased new in 1997. Always cleaned after trips and stored properly indoors. This is still in great shape.

 Interior and seats are like new. Exterior has only minor scratches on the bottom. It's only 65lbs, something I've been able to carry from the car to water by myself.   Capacity is 1,100 lbs. The 17' is more stable, has more capacity and is faster than the OT Penobscot 16' Comes with two light weight wooden LL Bean oars w/ resin tips (57 and 60"), 2 kids life vests,  2 flotation seats, foldable seat with back support, car straps and pads.

Would be great to explore New England rivers and lakes this summer and fall foliage season. Light weight Rolayex Canoes stopped being produced in 2016. Last year a few canoe makers started  using a replacement material, T-Formex. The closest currently available light weight canoe, LL Bean's West Branch 17 with T-Formex at 69lbs, sells for $2100 (canoe only). The current OT Penobscot made with three layer polyethylene, weighs 83lbs and sells for $1,300.

Royalex can survive bending accidents that would deform polyethylene. I don't think you'll find another Royalex Penobscott 17 available for sale in better condition than this.
