This is an 18 foot long, CS(common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with red western cedar, open sprucegunwales, maple decks, maple thwarts, maple seats, and a keel. It was builtbetween September, 1916 and January, 1917. The original exterior paint colorwas bright red. It shipped on February 28th, 1917 to Minneapolis, Minnesota. With the closing of the factory at Old Town, Maine, the companycontracted with Island Falls Canoe, owned by Jerry Stelmok of Atkinson, tobuild and maintain its wooden canoes.Most of the individual records for OldTown's canoes and boats built prior to 1976 still exist. Information on serialnumbers 210,999 or less has been scanned and can be accessed by providing thenumber either to Wooden Canoe Heritage Association volunteers online or bycontacting the Old Town company. A serial number is located on the upper faceof the stem on the floor of the canoe at each end. Build records containspecific information regarding construction of each boat or canoe, includingthe dates each part of the build-process was accomplished, the date it wasshipped and its final destination.
