RELISTING DUE TO A NON-PAYING BIDDER...HAVE THE $$$$, HAVE THE DESIRE, KNOW YOUR LOGISTICAL CONCERNS, THEN press BUY IT NOW! (OR "make an offer" - everything is automated and you may well be buying something you're unable to purchase!!!!! ---sheesh...this IS the 21st century, yes??? Ok...here we go again...) In my family for more than 15 years. THIS IS THE LONG - 16FT version - of a family/sportsman's classic!!!
Don't remember the original manufacturer but it sure looks like an older version of today's Old Town Predator canoe. We've hunted from it (waterfowl), we've fished rivers and lakes from it (pike, gar, bass, herring, river cats, you name it), we've run mild whitewater in it.It's a great all around, SQUARE STERN,(so, yes, you can even add a motor. We've had both electric trolling motors on it and a 3hp gas outboard. Motors just make this canoe even MORE useful in more places!) super stable, fiberglass (the best for carrying the largest loads and lasting through ALL SORTS of uses and years)full size (this is a 16ft while most today are shorter, 38 inches across, at its' widest midsection)family (and father/grandfather/sportsperson) enjoyment machine! Middle bench has storage molded INTO the seat so your fishing gear or PFD's (or lunch) stays separate from the crowd (see pics, it's a super handy and clean feature that I can't imagine more canoes never thought to include...) That bench seats two kids easily (or friendly adults) and the carrying capacity of this thing is huge.
If you're not using the motor mount stern, you can put another person on the shelf/seat at the stern too!!! I've had EVERY combination of boy scouts (with some girls) and adults in this thing up to six in number (two adults and four kids) and never worried about it's seaworthiness. (Have you ever seen how fast a large old canoe can go with FIVE paddlers going as fast as they can??? It is etched in my memory...very fondly...but I digress) I've been a whitewater guide on the Lehigh River so I have some experience with fresh water boats. If I weren't paring down my own fleet, you would have to pry this canoe from my cold, dead hands, it's that good.(ALWAYS SUPPLY ALL BOATERS WITH A PFD OF THEIR OWN!) If you're looking for a great canoe that has decades more of life still in it AND you don't want to spend more than the $1200 (which is the absolute cheapest you're gonna find something shorter, new and in any way comparable to this)you've found your next fresh (or brackish) water fun machine right here. Currently residing in 08505.
You will have to pick this up in person OR arrange your own shipping (which I MAY be able to help with, if absolutely necessary and the destination is between middle NY state and Georgia near to the I95 or I87 corridors (because I travel all those places for kids in college throughout the spring. For me to do it, it will cost you .40/mile...you know where you live from 08505, you do the math, if necessary.)THEN ASK ABOUT SHIPPING BEFORE YOU PLACE ANY BID and EXPECTING IT TO BE TAKEN CARE OF!!! CONFIRM YOUR SHIPPING/PICKUP details BEFORE BIDDING!!!! ALL WEAR IS EVIDENT IN THE PICTURES, USE THEM AS THE SOLE DETERMINATION ON CONDITION,NO LEAKS WHATSOEVER!!!! "what you see is EXACTLY what you'll get" notes you should read but... (I won't blame you if you skip 'em for now...) I have been selling on classifieds board for over twenty five years.
Yes, since the very beginning. This is my third seller I.D. (due to security breaches each and every time...) and my ex-wife is still selling on one of my previous accounts where we had over 3000 feedbacks alone! I have THOUSANDS of satisfied customers but you MUST know... * I save time by using beautiful, crisp, hi-res photos. ** I will describe any damage or noteworthy issues as best as I can immediately upon noting any issue.
AND-- ***I won't clean or try to 'doctor' any item. I've been actually "dressed down" (very early in my 'classifieds board career') for "ruining the patina" on a 100 year old lamp that I lightly wiped down before shipping it... How I find an item is how you will receive it. If it has indications of age, whether that be tarnish-rust-corrosion-or mold blooms, you will receive it exactly that way in order for you to do as you wish from that point. With the exception of some new items I sell which I have purchased for myself and later found I wouldn't or couldn't use, ALL of my items are old. Those old items are from sales where almost everything being sold has long since been out of production or they have thought up another 40 (or 400) improvements since the item was originally sold.
If you're like me, that may be exactly WHY you are looking for the older version (or even the 'original' version) of something. They usually work better AND are easier to fix and keep working longer! My house runs (VERY well) on all sorts of those items and I can understand anyone's melancholy over the loss of an era... when things were manufactured to last and NOT be discarded for a replacement (designed to be sold to you inside of five years from buying the first... what have we come to?!) ****ALL of my items are listed on multiple local boards and locations, I reserve the right to end an auction on any item prior to the closing time due to local sale. AS TO SHIPPING--- We list the completed package weight (and dimensions if it is a large shipment) with each item. USUALLY, that will allow us to use the postage calculators embedded in the classifieds board system for you to calculate the EXACT shipping cost to your door, using the method of your preference.
WE PREFER using USPS whenever possible because they are now (typically, but not to every location) the quickest, economical shipping AND the most sure. (We change as the competition changes among the shippers but our favorites usually remain our favorites for years at a time.) Some weights, insurance issues and dimensions dictate using UPS, FED-EX or even GREYHOUND shipping. I will let you know in the listing if those exceptions apply to that particular item. Finally--- I sell because I have, very dear to me, super bright kids who are all getting very expensive educations! Don't bid expecting to 'renegotiate' a final price once you get the item.
As I have said, I have been doing this for a very long time. You will ship the item (every piece) back (on your dime) and get a full refund (item costs-NOT shippings) if there is something unsatisfactory to you on arrival AND ONLY IF THE ITEM WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD WITH A RETURN/REFUND stipulation in the original ad. These days, most of my items do NOT offer refund. That's how the big stores do it, that's how I do it. You can't pull something I haven't already seen (or heard of) on classifieds board before now.
I'm honest, my items are the 'real deal' and my customers appreciate both my frank, straightforward nature and my dependability. In short, I treat my customers like I like to be treated by those trying to sell ME anything... well. All the best to each of you in your bidding and your future. JD
