1920's Vintage Restored Peterborough,  Canadian Style All Wood Canoe

Peterborough style 16 1/2' x34" x12 1/2" cedar strip wooden canoe. Each strip has a shiplapped joint to the next one. No fiberglass covering on the canoe---just spar varnish. It appears to be a model 45 which was built in the 1920's. Peterborough advertised that their all wood canoes would last 30 years, and this one is much older than that.

It has some new ribs, new outwales, new seats, keelson, keel, and decks. The wood has been stripped and re-varnished. A mixture of varnish and wood flour was used to fill any planking gaps. There are no holes in the hull, but is an old cane. This type of construction was always prone to leaking.
