2 Beautiful orange grp beginners canoes to enable you to canoe. Condition is Used. I love these canoes, I mean I REALLY LOVE THESE CANOES. My dad got these when I was about 8 I think, and I first used them with my brother and sister in a dreamy quiet cove somewhere north of Edinburgh. There was sand.
Indeed, my first attempt didn't go so well, because I sunk. As I began to paddle off the beach, towards the sea, the first wave broke over the bow, and because there's no rim around the cockpit, I filled up, and sunk. The wave receded, the sea went out and left me sitting stuck on the sand with a canoe full of water. Now don't get me wrong...these are great canoes, just not great with waves. I taught my kids to canoe in these, one is now in Dive 1 slalom.....at a club hell bent on churning out gold medalists........indeed I taught my one lad in these, and he can't see.
I merely tied a piece of string to the back of his canoe, tied to the edge of a pool and off he went. He paddled for ages, loved it. Got no where, but loved it all the same ! I use these as tenders to my little speedy boat, think of that film "Puppet on a chain" and that great boat chase though Amsterdam....or was in Venice.....it was wet, and there was water, and my boat is the chaser.......yeh baby !! It's easy to stand up in these see, incredibly stable.
I'm about 5'11" tall, going on 6'5".....( I wish )....and I still get in and paddle about . They're great ! They could do with a wipe down, but that's for you, so you can get to know and appreciate the "lines" on these babies. Now these are about 118" long and about 32" wide. They're so safe on lakes, canals or rivers ( be responsible and join canoe England or something ), and so easy to paddle.
They're not heavy, and considering I'm approaching my 54th year, making these about 46 years old, they're in pretty good shape. One or two repairs which you can see in the pictures, but by design, they've had gentle lives. If you were thinking of putting your little ones on the water for the first time, these are fantastic. When I say I love these canoes, I do. It pains me to sell them.
I've had them around me much of my life. I've canoed all over the place in them, stuffed with a sleeping bag and a bivy, we went on the Wye, the Severn, Bala, Wales......and they hold so many great memories. I still canoe, not as much as I'd like, but for youngsters, these could open so many doors to so many adventures. They're old.....but they're ACE !! So please, give these guys a new home, and use them, really use them.
(That was an emotional plea from a crusty old guit who thinks these canoes are brill, and will miss them ) Cash on collection please. Thanks for looking
