4Ft Cedar/african Mahogany Trim Wood Strip Canoe #241

This canoe is a model for display only. Not for water use !!!. It’s only 4 ft long. History This canoe is # 241. I do not build 1000's of them as it is a hobby.

Probably about 8-10 this year, maybe less. Most likely the last one before Christmas. I build these in three different trim packages. African Mahogany, Walnut & Oak. I consider African Mahogany the “classic”.

This canoe is perfect for that rustic cabin. If it works for your decor there will not be another one for awhile. This is a handcrafted wooden model of a wood strip canoe. This two seat canoe was very common along the rivers and lakes of the Adirondacks, Boundary Waters area and the Pacific Northwest. All of my canoes are one of a kind as they are constructed just like the originals utilizing individual western red cedar strips nailed around nine molds to create the shape of the finished boat.

The beauty and diversity of western red cedar is what makes my canoes unique and unmatched for beauty by any other type cedar. This is a beautiful canoe. The trim on this canoe is African Mahogany throughout the gunwales, decks, and paddles. The outside gunwales are attached with brass screws which complement the beauty of the contrasting wood. Accent strips matching the trim package are also added to the sides and bottom which is a nice addition that you will not find on canoes this size.

Both the bow and stern decks are also built from matching mahogany for added detail and elegance. The seats were built like the originals with woven cane webbing installed on a mahogany hardwood frame for strength. A center portaging yoke along with matching handmade paddles finish off the details. The package includes wall hangers, table stands, and paddles for no additional charge. Everything you need is included!


 
 Construction Process
 The canoe is handcrafted over multiple weeks due to the nature of the construction process. Each canoes utilize over 40 individual cedar strips which must be set and cured before adding the next strip. The canoe is constructed in a secure mold throughout the process to ensure the integrity of the design. Once complete the canoe is sanded and multiple coats of spar varnish are applied both inside and out resulting in a beautiful durable finish. . .Each canoe is unique,built, and will ship immediately.

Canoe is approximately 47" long x 8” wide. This one of a kind hand built classic canoe will accent any cabin, lodge or vacation home and provide a unique conversation piece for years to come.
