Antique vintage wooden wood canoe - a beauty. I bought this wonderful looking canoe about 25 years ago from a local antiques dealer who had picked it in either northeastern Pennsylvania or the southern tier of New York. It's been hanging on rafters in my dad's garage ever since, so I've never touched it or restored it or attempted to float it. It's really in quite good shape, but not being a true canoe guy (really I just loved the look of it) I can't vouch for it being water worthy. There's some obvious wear / crackling / peeling on the under body.
The interior, the gunnels, the seats and thwarts and all of that seem to be excellent. The feature that I loved the most were the double heart shaped decks on each end. I had a local guy who was interested in such things come look at it maybe 15 years ago and he was quite fascinated and my understanding is that he and an online canoe discussion group had an interesting back and forth about who made this and when, but I don't think there was a definite finding there that I was told...was made some offers but didn't wish to sell at the time. But it's just time for someone else to enjoy it and perhaps get it back in the water for a bit. It's 16 feet long tip to tip but because of the shape overall it's closer to 17 feet long.
About 32 and 1/2" long at the widest. Just a lovely looking craft. Very folky but graceful. This is a free pick up item. I wouldn't be sure how to ship it from our rural area here, but if that's a must I'll help look into.
We're about an hour from Scranton or Wilkes-Barre PA and also about an hour from Binghamton or Elmira NY. Since you'd likely be traveling a distance to pick it up I won't hold you to the sale if it in any way doesn't meet your understanding of the boat. I'll be glad to help you with any questions or extra photos that you'd wish. Thank you.
