Canadian Open Canoe. Welcome to the sale of our open Canadian Canoe. I bought this of the maker a few (6?) years ago, and we have had many happy days paddling up and down the local canal, reservoirs, and on the Wye. We've had a load of laughs with it. It's been up and down the Wye more times than I like to think, and it's always been well up to the task of 2 kids and 2 adults.
But now the kids are teenagers, and one is a fine rower, and a family canoe just doesn't cut the mustard anymore. It's a shame - we've looked after it pretty well, and although it has loads of marks and scratches, it's water tight, and the wood in the hull is all protected. The bloke I bought it from did a great job building it - it has at least 2 coats of quality epoxy paint, maybe more, and as far as I can see, it's all intact, and protective. There are 2 what I've always assumed to be flotation devices in the bow and stern, so it won't sink, even if it's full of water (though we've never tried this, so if you do so it's at your own risk). It's always been dry stored, and it comes with 4 single paddles.I also have a few small 'personal flotation devices' - life jackets to the rest of us, which I'll throw in if you come and collect it promptly and talk to me about what you want to do with it.
I'd like to think it's going to a good home, as I'm a bit attached to it, and it will be carrying some good memories with it on future paddles. Be careful though - we've replaced this Canadian with a few kayaks, spend most of the summer weekends doing something kayak related, my 1 lad now rows semi competitively, and we're off sea kayaking in Greece in the summer. It might just lead you into this kind of silliness. In terms of practicality, it's located in NP15 1HR - you can see our details in the business seller panel here. Please be decent enough to collect promptly if you buy it.
It will fit quite happily on a standard roof rack - we've always put it on upside down, and used ropes to attach. The bow and stern handles are solid enough to assist in lashing down as well, so it's not difficult to transport. Cash on collection only please. As ever, I'd have to say that all outdoor sports have some risk attached, so please take suitable precautions and be aware of the potential safety implications. Advertised on my business account as it's easier to manage. .
Oh, and by the way, despite what classifieds board thinks, it's not really made in Canada - that's just the style of the canoe. Thanks for reading this far, and happy bidding.
