Cedar Strip Canoe, 15', Two Person, Brand New!! Weighs Only 40 Lbs! Wood Wooden

You are considering a brand new, 15' two person cedar strip canoe that weighs only 40 lbs!!! The design is by Ashes Stillwater Boats and is the Ashes Angler model. I chose this model because of it's excellent stability (34" in width), which makes it ideal for photographers, birders, anglers and anyone who is unnerved by "tippy" canoes. Also included are two matching paddles, made of the same materials. I was able to get 17' clear red cedar which allowed me to build the hull with very few splices.

Each strip is .7" x 3/16" with the edges beaded and fluted. Unique to this build - NO STAPLES used, therefore no staple holes running up and down each one foot interval of the entire boat. Gunnels, seats, thwart and tips are made of sapele mahogany. The rest of the hull is clear red cedar with the accents in white cedar. Stems are eastern ash.

I used 4 oz fiberglass cloth on both the inside and outside, with a double layer reinforcement down the center, both on the inside and outside. I test floated it at Lake Hosmer and was flooded with compliments! If this design is not to your liking, I would love to be commissioned to build a canoe to your specs - either a single or double.
