You are considering a recently completed 16' cedar strip canoe made my me! The design is the Laker from the book "Building a Strip Canoe" by Gil Gilpatrick. Accents on the canoe body are with walnut and eastern ash. Gunnels are made from one piece oak and the scuppers are walnut. Of particular note - construction was WITHOUT staples, so no staple holes!

Glassing was with 5oz fiberglass cloth, both on the outside and inside. Finished with three coats of high gloss spar varnish. Completed boat weight is about 65lbs.Complimenting the project are two adult paddles and one child's paddle which I also made. The paddle faces are wrapped in 3oz fiberglass cloth. The face of the paddles are at about an 11 degree pitch.I used it in a lake only one time with the grandkids.

I loved how stable it was. We are moving to an area without lakes (central Oregon), hence the sale.
