Cypress Pirogue - Cajun Canoe - Authentic Handmade Wood Native Paddle Craft

This AUCTION is for ONE BOAT! I have three pirogues that were handmade for me by Lawrence Wille, in Belle Chase, Louisiana. They were painted by Ron Blue, a longtime wooden boatbuilding instructor at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum, in Madisonville, Louisiana. The paint finish is “working boat” style – not “yacht quality” varnish work. One of the three pirogues has been in the water 3 times.

The other two have never been wet. I spent a little over $4,000.00 each having these boats built and finished. They are 16 ft. Long X 36" wide X approximately 15" high. They weigh 60-70 lbs., depending on loose gear.

The construction is clear cypress over okoume marine plywood. They are glued-up and watertight. The removable floor boards are marine pressure-treated wood. I also have a boatload of new wooden paddles, pfd's, floatation cushions, and 6 detachable/folding seats that Lawrence Wille made, plus a long 2-wheel cart that Ron Blue made. You can see the cart in the pictures.

A full complement of loose gear will go with each boat, and the cart will go with the 3rd! These boats are located in Hilton Head Island, SC, stored in a new 8.5 ft X 16 ft. Cargo trailer, which will also be for sale once the boats are gone. I will help arrange transport through some commercial shipper. Of course, if someone bought all three, and the cargo trailer, one could drive them home and instantly set up a boat rental operation!
