Elegant hand crafted Canadian 17 ft Cedar-Strip Canoe. Sale supports Tinnitus UK. This canoe is being sold for charity. 100% (minus whatever classifieds board takes) will be donated to Tinnitus UK. She (not very gender non-specific but surely all boats are "She/Her" pronoun right?) is 17'4" long and of the Red Bird canoe profile to the best of my knowledge and closely follows the specs found on the Fynne Boats website (https://www.fyneboatkits.co.uk/plans/canoes/redbird-canoe/).

Cedar strip canoes are not cheap to build and the parts alone cost over 2000. This beauty was donated to me to finish as an extra curricular project with students but I have put a substantial amount of money into it (and an even more substantial amount of time). Sadly, the gentleman who began the canoe and completed all of the hull, died as a result of brain cancer and his widow needed someone to take it the rest of the way. It has taken awhile as I discovered I was allergic to resin dust while making it (!) and then we had Covid lockdowns. My wife also died during it's construction and as she suffered from tinnitus and it is not widely known about, we decided the proceeds will go to them.

The canoe was always intended to be sold for charity upon completion and we hope many will benefit from your donation. 6 students at the Ormiston Denes Academy helped to apply the resin and made the seats, gunwales, inwales with scuppers and the paddles (which could be included if the buyer wished). I completed the gunwales, thwarts, decks and assembled everything. It is not perfect. It is handmade and partly student made, and my first build of this nature but all and all, it's turned out pretty darn nice!

It is set up for 2 canoeists and a third seat could be added if the thwart was moved.It has been tested once, taken out on the water at Oulton Broad. I have managed to canoe by myself, taking it on and off the roof rack without much difficulty but 2 people would find it much easier to transport and to paddle. I have the framework for a third seat and an additional thwart that can also be included. Sorry for the long old ramble but there was a story to tell! Happy bidding folks!
