Super Rare Wood Canvas Canoe

This is a very rare Canoe. The ribs are like Peterborough wide board canoes. The planking is similar to US/Canada wood canvas. Peterborough offered a longitudinal cedar all wood canoe in 16ft similiar to this but canvas was only offered after 1921. The canvas covering indicates it would be a transition model and the wide ribs came later.

This model is a 16ft but measures 15' 8". I rebuilt this one. It was not in bad shape and I kept as much original as I could. There are about 12 repaired ribs. Some repairs to broken gunnels.

I added the keel and made it deep for tracking. I dispensed with the front seat, added the center portage thwart. It portages very well and carries a lot of gear. The final coat of paint is checking but it doesn't leak. As is no returns.
