Found this neat old cedar strip canoe at an garage sale here in Florida. Was stored in carport under cover. Lady said it was her fathers and it had come from Ohio and that is all she knew. I brought it home and worked hard to clean with some Murphy's oil soap and got a lot of dirt/dust from it. Here is what I see.
I know little to nothing about it except it reminds me of my upstate NY lake earlier life. Some things I see.The boat is 15' long, 32" wide at the middle. Weight is between 44-45 lbs. It has 4 metal brackets mounted inside the rails near the front, which I assume are meant to hold a shoulder yolk for portage or thwarts for side stability in rough water? There are 2 older foam/rubber kneeling pads and the mounting brackets are there ready for your owner built seat or buy one pre-made and mount it.
There are 2 glassed in eyelets in the bottom, one front and one back for securing supplies in the boat, tying your dog or securing it to car top or dock?? Top rails have a couple dowels covering screws would need replaced or redone. Both bow and keel have metal strips to protect the wood. Both carry ropes are secure. There are remnants of an old Ohio registration sticker on both side, so obviously it came from fresh water I would assume.
No title but Florida does NOT require a title for a vessel under 16' and which is "non-motor-powered" which this boat is. Got this from the Florida official vessel title website.I would say this boat would float fine the way it is.Local pick-up only. In Spring Hill, Fl (34608). An hour North of St. Pete/Clearwater on Rt. 19.
We are 50 minutes North of Tampa International on Rt. 589 which comes by Spring Hill.Selling AS IS with no returns or refunds, please. I strongly recommend inspection prior to buying...up to you. PayPal or money at pick-up. If using PayPal and Buy-Now it is all yours regardless of what you think when you come to pick it up...I think you know what I mean.
Come inspect it. I will provide exact street address and my home phone # to a responsible potential buyer with good feedback.NOTE....Because of social distancing from each other here in Florida I will have this canoe outside the garage on sawhorses for someone to inspect. Let me know your plans. I am been staying at home now for 15 days so chances are good any time will work although daylight hours only please.
