Vintage Sailing Canvas Canoe with Accessories - In Good Condition About 18 ft long at the outside measurementOld Town Otca from 1929 From the owner: "Vintage wood-canvas sailing canoe of 18 feet long. I was given this by the wife of the owner in 1988 and it has been in storage since that time, with occasional outings. The owner lived in the Hudson valley area. He may have been the original owner of the boat, and in the 80's he told me he used to sail it in New York harbor. He had owned it for many decades.
My father recanvased the boat for him in the 80's. This was the third or fourth boat my father recanvased, following advice from Old Town. I have sailed the boat several times using the accessories shown. The lateen sail is cotton cloth, with wood spars. You can see from the photos it is in good condition.
My father probably did the plank replacement in the mid-section. Also note in this section that two of the ribs are cracked slightly at the upper part of the photo. This is how I received the boat and these stress cracks do not affect the canvas. There are two small scuff marks where the paint is removed (less than 3 inches long)." Special thanks to Benson Gray for this additional info:"The Old Town canoe with serial number 100619 is an 18 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Otca model...It was built between January and April, 1929...It shipped on April 26th, 1929 to Staten Island, New York."
