Vintage Wood Canoe Made By Ted Gilmer 130" Long Leelanau Michigan 27.5 Lbs

My father had this canoe custom made by Ted Gilmer of Empire, Michigan. He no longer makes canoes, here is a recent quote I received from him via email: "I did build that canoe in my studio here in Empire Mi. The design comes from a canoe builder, who built canoes in the blue Lake area of New York in the Adirondacks I believe, in the 1880s to 1910s. The story goes that he had a client who wanted a design of canoe that he could carry all day, and that would float on his imagination. And this design called a Wee Lassie is what came from that request." The original purchase price was between $3,500-$4,000, and purchased about 1995.

It was shipped from Michigan to California and my parents hung it from the ceiling. It has never been in the water, it is a work of art! It then was shipped to New York where it is now. A few slight scratches from being transported, but still in great condition! About 130" long, 27" wide, 10" deep - weighs about 28 pounds!
